Details & Attributes

It has a strong aroma of roasted rice and a sweet taste. There is a thickening effect derived from brown rice.

The astringency is not strong. As it is brewed more and more often, the fragrance and sweetness fade away, and the astringency and greenness that is inherent in green tea come to the fore.

Tea Pairing

Best moment of the day: Breakfast - Lunch

Japanese tea is traditionally offered with Japanese sweets. They also pair very well with all sorts of meals, either for breakfast, lunch, breaks, or even dinner (for the lower-caffeine tea).

During his years of serving tea to his dear customers, Mohei's knowledge of the flavors and characteristics of his teas allows him to share the wonders of an exceptional green tea served with the right food. When paired well, Japanese tea can unlock further benefits such as better digestion, better diet, or enhanced sensation of satiety.

English Breakfast

The roasted brown rice will pair perfectly with some bacon and eggs

Malty, soft and good

This is not a bitter tea; it has a more malty flavor and may be great for anyone that is not so find of the grassy and/or bitter components of green tea. There is a slight parallel with rooibos tea in that both have a decidedly "soft" mouth feel as well, but I would say that Genmaicha has a much deeper and more interesting flavor profile than plain rooibos. I definitely recommend to give this one a try.

You are totally right; this tea is excellent to get introduced to Japanese green tea without diving too deep into bitterness and green flavors. Your comparison with Rooibos is also very interesting! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on our Genmaicha Hirusagari and describe your experience drinking it.

I'm a simple woman - if I see a genmaicha, I buy and drink a genmaicha.

And as a genmaicha enjoyer, I can say without any hesitation that this is one of the best tasting teas I have ever had. The flavors smoothly blend together, the fragrance is amazing, and the steeping process is very forgiving with my substitute tea tools and beginner tea knowledge.

I'm honestly considering making this seller my go-to for genmaicha going forward, it's that good.

Dear Claire,

Thank you so much for this detailed review and for your enthusiasm toward our Genmaicha. We are delighted to hear so much praise and pleased to see how Hirusagari has caught your heart, so to speak Mohei Tea aims to provide teas for both veterans and beginners to fully enjoy them, so your comment about the steeping process being very forgiving means a lot to us. We will do our best to keep producing high-quality Genmaicha, so you can always appreciate it for years to come. Thank you again for your continued support and deep appreciation
