Details & Attributes

Kurenai is a Japanese black tea crafted from the same Camellia sinensis plants used for green tea. Unlike Indian or Sri Lankan black teas, Japanese black teas offer a unique flavor profile due to Japan's distinct climate and tea cultivars.

Kurenai stands out for its lack of bitterness and astringency, emphasizing a natural sweetness. Only tender summer buds are harvested and carefully withered to enhance their fragrance. The leaves undergo controlled oxidation and drying to ensure no off-flavors remain.

The tea is aged for at least three years, developing a deep, rich flavor. A final light roasting at around 100°C for 30 minutes enhances its sweet aroma and leaves a long, lingering finish.
