1. Soak Before Use: Soak the Chasen in warm water for 1-2 minutes before whisking matcha. This softens the tines, reducing the risk of breakage.
Note: Avoid using soap to maintain the bamboo's natural integrity.
2. Rinse After Use: Rinse the Chasen thoroughly with warm water immediately after use. This helps remove matcha residue and prevents buildup.
Tip: Use your fingers to gently dislodge any matcha powder from the tines.
3. Air Dry: Allow the Chasen to air dry completely.Avoid storing it in a closed container to prevent mold growth.
Tip: Stand the Chasen upright or place it on a whisk stand to help it retain its shape while drying.
4.Rest the Chasen on its stand: Store your Chasen on a whisk stand (chasen-tate) to maintain the shape of the tines and ensure proper drying.
Tip: Do not store the Chasen in its original plastic case, as this can trap moisture and cause mold.
